All Denver North High School student athlete is expected to know and follow the North Football Program High School Student Athlete Conduct Code. The student conduct code applies to individual student athlete and student teams and extends to any DISTRICT or non-DISTRICT event we part take in, owned or controlled property, or DPS-sponsored events. In some circumstances, student athlete conduct code jurisdiction also extends to off-campus behavior.
The student athlete code of conduct violations include:
1. Academic Eligibility: a. Not meeting the school district minimal of 2.0 GPA per semester. Examples: End of last 6 weeks with 1.9 GPS or 2 or more F’s results in ineligible. The student will be ineligible for that sport.
B. Weekly progress report or Eligibility must not contain more than 2 Fs to remain eligible. 1 F results in automatic 1 quarter of play suspension. 1 F & 1 D results in 1 half of play suspension.
C. Two Consecutive weeks with 2 or more F’s results in a 4-game suspension or dismissal from the team. This can be a coach’s decision if the student athlete has attended all credit recovery opportunities.
D. Eligibility is complete every Thursday by 10am. Student has until that Friday at 3pm to get a grade up. An email to the Athletic Director from the teacher is the only sign off.
Note: No unexcused make up work can be done after this day unless no school is scheduled.
2. Academic Misconduct: The act of cheating, fabrication, and plagiarism. Examples: looking at another person’s exam.: Having someone other than you take an exam.
Results in a 2-game suspension or school administration has final penalty.
3. Practice: Practices are mandatory. If a student misses a practice, they will sit that week’s 1st half of the game. The team depends on every player to hold themselves accountable and attend practice. School work, making up assignments, and or homework can be done during our study hall time, or the students own time as intended.
Excused vs. Unexcused absence
Dr. Appointments, illness, make up work, birthdays, babysitting, transportation etc. are an unexcused absence.
4. Drug Distribution: Selling or distributing an illegal drug or legal drug without a prescription. Example: Giving a friend a joint at no charge, or more likely than not selling marijuana, as evidenced by the possession of a drug, a scale, plastic bags, etc. Results in violation of many rules and is automatic dismissed from team.
5. Drug Possession/Use: Possessing or using an illegal drug or anything not of the legal age.
Example: More likely than not to be smoking marijuana on school campus or surrounding areas. Results in violation of many rules and will be automatic dismissed from team.
6. Disorderly Conduct: Unreasonable noise or conduct those results in unreasonable annoyance to peers, teachers, administration, or community. Results in violation team rules and 1st offense is 1 game suspension. 2nd offense is 3 game suspensions. Anything more is a dismissal from the team.
7. Harassment: Unreasonable insults, gestures, or abusive words directed to another person, student, manager, player, player of an opposing team, parent, coach/es, that may reasonably cause emotional distress. Example: Making threats. Results in a dismissal from the team.
8. Hazing: Initiation rites involving any intentional action that a reasonable person would foresee as causing mental or physical discomfort or embarrassment. Results in a 4-game suspension. Pending legal action could be removed from the team.
9. Lewd or Indecent Conduct: Exposing oneself to others or trying to see and/or record others in private acts. Results in violation of many rules and is automatic dismissed from team.
10. Physical Contact: Physical contact that endangers, threatens, or harms the health or safety of any person, or behavior that causes a reasonable person to fear such contact. Results in violation of many rules and is automatic dismissed from team.
11. Property Use: Damage, destruction, theft, or unauthorized entry or use of DPS property. Results in violation of many rules and is automatic dismissed from team.
12. Sexual Misconduct: Any contact of a sexual nature without explicit consent. Results in violation of many rules and is automatic dismissed from team.
13. District or High School Documents (and other related property): Forgery, alteration, or unauthorized use of high school documents, records, keys, student identification. Results in violation of many rules and is automatic dismissed from team.
14. Weapons: Possession, use, or threatened use of a weapon, ammunition, or any object or substance used as a weapon. A concealed weapons permit does not constitute authorization. Results in violation of many rules and is automatic dismissed from team.
15. Dress Code: All issued equipment must be worn at all football activities. Example: wearing a belt to games.
A failure to comply with the SACC could and will result in suspension, release from intermural, legal action if needed, permanent suspension, possible expulsion.
